Carl Nall says, “My neighbors have been robbed of lawnmowers in their storage sheds and whatever but not armed robberies this close to me.” Elgin Police Detective Randy Hensley admits, “It’s a growing concern because we’ve had so many, and in Elgin it’s kind of unusual.” Police add that people are especially concerned because this robber carries a gun — and has demonstrated he’s not afraid to use it. Beth Blackford jokes, “I don’t carry a piece with me so the only thing I could hit him with is my purse.” Elgin Police say if you run into a robbery in progress just do what the guy says. So far no one has been hurt and they want to keep it that way.
